Canvas Redesign

New Feature

Summary: This update includes bug fixes, speed improvement, features improvement and overall quality improvements in Canvas.

This update includes:

Canvas Layout Redesign

Canvas Screen

We rebuilt Canvas from the ground up. Rewriting both the backend and frontend code.

Canvas now has a top navigation bar with company branding along with the back button at the left, Canvas Tabs(Canvas, Templates and Stats) in the middle and Canvas Configuration(Save, Share, Download) in the right.

Coming down, we have the tab panel data on the left-hand side. This area changes with the changes in tab selection and allows a smoother transition from one tab to another.

On the right-hand side, we have the fixed writing area which we call Canvas. This area is fixed and does not change under any condition. This allows you to work on your Canvas without any distractions.

The action buttons that were previously located at the top of Canvas have now been relocated and appear at the location where the text is selected.

For example, if you want to expand a particular line or rephrase a particular paragraph, you can just select that part and a set of tools will appear right at that place.

Since all these tools are at your fingertips, it makes working with Canvas even more simple and helps you get the work done in a breeze.

We have discussed the interface changes above, but that's not the only thing we did when we redesigned Canvas. We have also improved the functionality of Canvas a lot.

For starters, Canvas loading time has been reduced by roughly 50%*. This is a huge jump from the previous versions. We removed all the existing bloat and have only included the files that are necessary for the functioning.

Command Feature now has been upgraded to work in sync with the overall text**. You can now use the commands like "summarize the text above" or "generate a blog outline for the above text".

Canvas still works with the previously assigned shortcut keys and we have tried to make it as intuitive as possible. For example, when saving a canvas, you can use ctrl + s to save the document. More on shortcut keys is listed in the getting started guide.

As for the output quality, we have re-engineered the prompts and fine-tuned the underlying AI model, therefore, some of the templates and commands will have significantly higher quality in Canvas.

This concludes the update. A lot of new things are coming up in the next updates.
